The Parable of the Wheat and Tares
Although traditionally implied to the church, is not addressing the church, but the state of the World in general.
We're all agreed that the enemy has infiltrated our ranks in the churches. But there's no where in scriptures where we are taught to let error and truth co-exist.
The New Testament is rather emphatic about how error, and worse, apostasy, should be dealt with in the body of Christ.
One would have to try very hard to ignore relevant scriptures to conclude that GOD wants error and truth to co-exist in Christ, as in the parable of the wheat and tares.
Apostasy and truth are always at logger heads. They are a relentless, unyielding divisive lines,
Of a truth, they can not CO-EXIST, by DEFAULT they seek to UNDERMINE one another.
"If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand."-Mark 3:24.
"Watch out!" Jesus told them. "Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees."-Matthew 16:6.
If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell.-Matthew 5:29-30.
Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough? 7 Get rid of the old yeast, so that you may be a new unleavened batch—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.- 1 Corinthians 5:6.
Holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith. 20 Among them are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan to be taught not to blaspheme.-1 Timothy 1:19-20.
Paul also used the word, "hand over to Satan ", in the case of the church man who was sleeping with his step mother.
I believe 'hand over to Satan' is consistent with Romans 1:28,
"Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of GOD, so GOD gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.
(HE left them to the influence of the World which they so earnestly crave, in the hope that they'll eventually see that true life, joy, and peace is in YHWH through Jesus the Christ, HIS Son, by the power of the Holy Spirit).
Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.-Ephesians 5:11.
What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside?
GOD will judge those outside. "Expel the wicked person from among you."-1 Corinthians 5:12-13.
If the Bible teaches that error be exposed, and apostasy shouldn't co-exist with truth,
Executing this should be more our concern than what would happen to die hard fans of the apostate.
Hymenaeus and Alexander must have had followings, Paul called them out all the same.
The Corinthian church must have had leadership, when Paul indicted them of canality , that was an indictment on the churches leadership.
When Paul called Peter out in public, it was especially because he knew that Peters errors already had following,
And if he can bring Peter to open repentance, he would have nipped a great problem promptly in the bud.
Truth, and error, is like Light and darkness. where one reigns, the other is absent.
